  The sword is double edged - as t he same Word is life for some and death for others, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be spoken. If you only live by the sword, then you will die by the sword, but if you live according to Spirit.....

  Isn't it our destiny to become spiritual, grow spiritually, into spirits?

  For some it should be a fantastagorical dreamvoyage to spend all their time at serving others, unburdened by their previous state - I suppose for others it will simply be an eternity in hell, envying those in the flesh.

  I wonder how the dubs will be with that. Do you think they'll be freaked out by it? to be like angels, neither male nor female etc?

  I take it you didn't like that revelation reading either gumby. The dubs are different gumby - ready and willing to lie to themselves when threatened - like an ostrich that believes it has escaped when it hides it's head.

  If the bible was Not God's Word, it would be an unmistakeble rule book on how to earn your way to heaven. The fact that it is vague confirms that it is indeed holy, and not for selling.

  this weekend's poll is a serious topic and invites us to exercise our dub trained minds to solve a problem in helping us to reach to those who want to honestly look at their situation within the organisation.

  1, 2 & 3 - and 7 due to 3 - and anyway there's always 9.

  As always, the 'different rules for dubs' mindset does not readily allow the infiltrating thought that although it's ok for most of the people on earth to be burned, the idea of dubdom being simply wrong is just too distressing to contemplate seriously.

  Better to lie to themselves than consider that their perceived plight of the rest of the world could ever apply to them - to many dubs, any extent of hypocrisy is better than that notion.

  That's the problem with hearing the Word that way - more will be given - the judgement that they project is the judgement that they receive - but it's too shocking for their own minds to acceptingly receive it.

  Better just lie about it and stay "sane".

  the graven image is the one that is made and moulded to be "fine" (finished) - and it's serious and hard - but it's dead.

  last week we enjoyed a thread where many discussed the pros and cons of dubdom and comments have been made that exjws can be overtaken with negativity, and that this board displays far too much malice towards the r&f.

  a view is held that the r&f are really nice people and they are innocent of sins committed by the borg.

  the argument goes that individuals, whether on the gb or publishers in a local congregation, are all victims of some organisational spirit.

  The Glory Days Are Over

  there is no doubt in my mind that the glory days of jehovah's witnesses are over.

  from my knowledge and experience with wt history, i would define the glory days as the decades of the 1950's, 1960's and early 1970's.

  with knorr's great expansionary vision and discipline, dubs in the 1950's became a "somebody" in the 1950's.

  It's obvious that information is an enemy to the wt, and a one way flow of speak and thought is essential to their stability.

  But, we are entering the information age where communications are multiplying. For the wt to avoid data will require an effort like not having anything to do with tv.

  It just won't work for many - they'll hear truths that can be ignored. Even little backwood people are connected to media. Whether given good things or not, kids will eventually just tell them to shove it. The third world is their only holdout - I'm sure you'll see an increase where people don't have computers, but that won't be forever.

  january of 2000 was my first real 24/7 exposure to the internet and ex-jw sites.

  it was thrilling to read the real life stories of others just like myself, who had escaped the watchtower.

  the affirmation of my own conclusions regarding the truth, and its so-called faithful and discreet slave.

  Re-form? Do it again? - I don't think so.

  A whole other type of form - maybe, but there'd have to be nothing left of the old one. Apart from people, I'm not sure they've got anything worth keeping. The doctrines are unusable and incompatible with christianity.

  yes, i know what the wts teaches....but what do you believe?.

  if god exists why is there is so much suffering both among humans and even more so among his creation, where all animals must, deceive then eat one another to survive?

  if he does not exist why is there is so much suffering both among humans and even more so among nature where all animals must eat one another to survive?

  Well, if you healed the sick in your area, fed thousands of people, told off the gb, and got together a band of people to do the same, you'd probably be called a social advocate too.

  The wt are only interested in talk.

  And I should add, you could stay at home and help your parents until your an adult, and then go out and work more.

  The greatest of our time - well, I'm not sure but I can think of a few. Martin Luther King, Mother Teresa, Dorothy Day, Shanana Goosmou (however you spell that)....

  WHY DO WE ?

  The thread sounds like, "we've waited on jehovah, and He hasn't come up with the goods we want, so He's an asshole"

  Meanwhile, we stuff our faces on stolen lands, fill the earth with pollution..yada yada

  The question should probably be, "why do we join in packs of people who do wicked things, rather than go against it?"

  Jesus, the greatest social advocate of His time.
